PROJECT 04 / CONSTRUCTION & DEVELOPMENT / CRIEFF

Housing Development Drainage Cleaning & Adoption Works

Envirotech Drainage Solutions was appointed to support drainage cleaning, CCTV surveying and connection checks across a new housing development in Crieff ahead of the next stage of the drainage handover and adoption process.

The works were carried out to remove construction-related debris and deposits, confirm drainage connectivity and provide a clearer record of the condition of the accessible sewer network.

THE CHALLENGE

Project Overview

Newly constructed drainage systems can accumulate silt, debris and other material during the construction phase, particularly where multiple trades and ongoing groundworks are taking place across a development.

Envirotech was brought in to clean and inspect sections of the foul and surface water drainage network, helping the project team confirm that accessible pipework was clear, connected correctly and suitable for further inspection and handover requirements.

The project combined jet-vac cleaning with CCTV inspection and connectivity checks across the development.

THE BRIEF

Scope Of Works

Works included:

  • Jet-vac cleaning of foul and surface water drainage
  • Removal of silt, debris and construction-related deposits
  • CCTV inspection of accessible drainage pipework
  • Confirmation of drainage routes and connections
  • Inspection of manholes and accessible assets
  • Identification of visible defects or restrictions
  • Flow testing following cleaning
  • Recorded survey evidence
  • Reporting for the project team
  • Support for drainage handover and Scottish Water adoption requirements

Jet-Vac Cleaning, CCTV & Adoption Support

Jet-vac equipment was used to clean the drainage network and remove accumulated silt, debris and construction-related deposits from accessible pipework and chambers. Cleaning the system before CCTV inspection allowed the internal condition of the drainage network to be assessed more clearly, reducing the risk of deposits obscuring defects or restricting camera access.

Following cleaning, CCTV surveys were completed across accessible sections to record pipe condition, routes, connections and any visible observations requiring further attention. Drainage connectivity was also reviewed to provide the project team with clearer information on how the completed network was configured.

The combined cleaning, CCTV inspection and connection checks provided supporting evidence ahead of drainage handover and the Scottish Water adoption process, while allowing any outstanding defects or remedial requirements to be identified before final completion.

THE RESULT

Project Outcome

The completed works provided the project team with a cleaner and better-documented drainage network in preparation for handover.

Jet-vac cleaning removed accumulated silt, debris and construction-related deposits from accessible pipework and chambers. Subsequent CCTV inspection recorded the visible internal condition of surveyed sections and provided supporting evidence of the accessible drainage routes and connections.

The findings helped the project team identify any outstanding restrictions, defects or areas requiring further work before completion. Combining cleaning, connectivity checks and CCTV reporting in one programme provided useful evidence for ongoing handover preparations and consideration of Scottish Water adoption requirements.
