A BATHGATE BUSINESS WITH A PERSONAL STORY

Two friends. Two skillsets. One shared ambition.

Envirotech Drainage Solutions was founded by lifelong friends Callum and Barry, bringing together hands-on drainage expertise and a strong background in engineering, commercial management and health and safety.

WHY WE STARTED

A better way to deliver drainage work.

We set out to build a dependable, professional business where practical solutions, honest communication and doing the job properly come first.

01 / THE BEGINNING

From school friends to business partners.

Rooted in Bathgate.

Callum and Barry have been best friends since high school. Both from Bathgate in West Lothian, they had known each other for years before deciding to combine their different professional backgrounds and start Envirotech Drainage Solutions.

Barry had spent ten years working in drainage, building the practical knowledge needed to investigate problems and understand what happens on site. Callum brought an engineering and construction background, including commercial operations, health and safety, and experience working with public-sector organisations and private contractors.

That mix of experience became the foundation of a business built around good work, clear communication and lasting customer relationships.

02 / THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE BUSINESS

Complementary experience. Shared standards.

Our different backgrounds help us look at drainage work from both sides: the technical challenges on site and the planning, reporting and safety expectations of the client.

BARRY / CO-FOUNDER

Ten years in drainage.

Barry brings the hands-on industry experience behind Envirotech’s practical approach to surveys, investigation, clearance and drainage repairs.

His site experience helps shape the way we investigate problems, assess options and carry out the work.

CALLUM / CO-FOUNDER

Engineering, commercial and H&S.

Callum’s background covers engineering and construction, commercial responsibilities, project delivery and health and safety.

It includes experience working with public-sector organisations and private contractors, as well as office-based work for a leading engineering company.

We are both closely involved in the business and want our customers to feel the benefit of that personal accountability.

03 / WHAT MATTERS TO US

A practical approach, delivered professionally.

Our aim is not simply to attend a site and complete a job. We want clients to understand what we have found, what we have done and what we recommend next.

01 / GET TO THE ROOT OF IT

Clear investigation

Understand the drainage issue and select a proportionate way forward.

02 / WORK SAFELY

Professional delivery

Plan for the site, its risks and the people or operations around our work.

03 / KEEP PEOPLE INFORMED

Evidence and communication

Provide useful updates, findings and records so clients can make informed decisions.

04 / OUR WORK

The experience behind our work.

From reactive drainage works to CCTV investigation, network mapping and infrastructure maintenance, our projects show the breadth of work we support throughout Scotland.

PROJECT / SCOTTISH WATER & CLANCY

CSO cleaning & maintenance

Supporting combined sewer overflow infrastructure at sites across Scotland.

PROJECT / CUMBERNAULD

900 mm sewer CCTV survey

Large-diameter surface-water sewer condition surveying ahead of construction.

PROJECT / LIVINGSTON

Warehouse drainage mapping

Drainage route and connectivity investigation to help document site infrastructure.

BEYOND THE BUSINESS

A challenge that went beyond drainage.

Envirotech began with a friendship that goes back to school. Away from site, we also like taking on challenges that bring people together and make a difference.

In September 2026, our Sewers to Summits Three Peaks charity challenge saw us carry a 24 kg manhole cover into the mountains in support of WaterAid and Forth Rivers Trust.

It’s a story about determination, teamwork and supporting causes that matter to us. You can read the full Sewers to Summits story in News & Insights.

LOOKING AHEAD

Building a business for the long term.

We want to grow Envirotech into an established Scottish drainage contractor while staying true to the values we started with: technical competence, hard work, accountability and a personal service.

As our capability and team grow, we want clients to keep dealing with people who take pride in every project.
