PROJECT 03 / COMMERCIAL & PUBLIC SECTOR / LIVINGSTON
Warehouse Drainage Mapping & Investigation
Envirotech Drainage Solutions was appointed to investigate and map the below-ground drainage network serving a large warehouse site in Livingston.
The project was undertaken to provide the client with a clearer understanding of the existing drainage layout, connectivity and key assets across the site, supporting future maintenance, investigation and site planning.

THE CHALLENGE
Project Overview
The existing drainage network required further investigation to establish pipe routes, connections and the relationship between accessible drainage assets across the warehouse site.
Envirotech combined CCTV surveying, sonde tracing and drainage asset mapping to build a clearer picture of the below-ground network and identify accessible sections of the system.
Where required, drainage routes were traced from chambers and access points to help establish connectivity and provide additional information on the layout of the existing network.
THE BRIEF
Scope Of Works
Works included:
- CCTV inspection of accessible drainage pipework
- Sonde tracing of underground drainage routes
- Drainage connectivity investigations
- Identification of accessible chambers and drainage assets
- Recording of pipe routes and network information
- Asset mapping across the site
- Photographic records and survey observations
- Identification of inaccessible or unconfirmed sections where applicable
ON SITE / TECHNICAL DELIVERY
Drainage Mapping & Investigation
Envirotech carried out CCTV inspections of accessible pipework and used sonde tracing to investigate underground routes and connections where existing site information was limited or unclear.
Survey footage, pipe references, visible defects, restrictions and notable observations were recorded through WinCan. Accessible chambers and drainage assets were identified and the findings used to develop a clearer record of the below-ground network.
The investigation also documented any sections that could not be confirmed, helping distinguish surveyed connections from routes requiring further inspection or verification.

THE RESULT
Project Outcome
The completed CCTV and mapping investigation gave the client a clearer understanding of the warehouse drainage network, including accessible chambers, identified pipe routes, connections and the visible condition of surveyed pipework.
Combining camera evidence with tracing and connectivity checks reduced reliance on historic or unverified drainage information. Recorded observations also highlighted areas where deposits, defects or access limitations could require further maintenance or investigation.
The resulting survey information provides a useful reference for future planned cleaning, repeat CCTV surveys, targeted repair decisions and site alterations. Routes traced by sonde remain approximate and are subject to survey access and site conditions.
