HEALTH, SAFETY & COMPLIANCE
Health & Safety in Drainage Operations
Health and safety is integral to how Envirotech Drainage Solutions plans, manages and delivers drainage works across Scotland.
From reactive call-outs and CCTV surveys to high-pressure water jetting, confined-space operations and drainage repairs, our work is planned around the risks associated with each site, activity and working environment.

RISK ASSESSMENT & SITE CONTROLS
Safe Planning Before Work Starts
Every attendance is assessed against the work involved, site conditions and surrounding activities. We plan suitable controls before mobilisation and review changing conditions on site.
Planning & Risk Assessment
- Site-specific RAMS
- Dynamic risk assessments
- COSHH assessments where required
- Permit-to-work arrangements
- Client/site inductions
- Emergency procedures
- Traffic and pedestrian management
- Appropriate PPE and RPE
Controls on Site
- Pre-use equipment inspections
- Vehicle and equipment checks
- Toolbox talks
- Barriers and exclusion zones
- Chapter 8 traffic management where required
- Safe access to drainage assets
- Work area protection
- Digital job reporting through WorkPal
ACTIVITY-SPECIFIC PROTECTION
Specialist Drainage Safety
Drainage work can involve pressurised equipment, restricted access, moving vehicles and live infrastructure. Safe methods are selected to reflect the task and its surrounding environment.
High-Pressure Water Jetting
Engineers undertaking jetting operations work to appropriate procedures, equipment requirements and training standards.
Confined Space Drainage Services
Entry is avoided where reasonably practicable. Where entry is necessary, work is planned around the hazards, access arrangements, communications and emergency procedures involved.
CCTV & Drainage Investigations
Survey works are planned around safe access to chambers, traffic movements, public areas and operational environments.
Drainage Repairs & Excavation
Works are assessed for underground services, excavation hazards, plant movements, access and interaction with other contractors.
TRAINING & COMPETENCE
Training, Competence & Equipment
Our engineers undertake role-specific training and competency development relevant to the drainage activities they perform. This can include high-pressure water jetting, confined-space working, site supervision, first aid, CSCS requirements and traffic-management awareness.
Equipment, vehicles and specialist drainage machinery are subject to routine inspections and pre-use checks.
Competence Areas
- High-pressure water jetting
- Confined-space working
- SSSTS and site supervision
- First Aid and CSCS
- Chapter 8 traffic management
- IOSH
CLEAR RECORDS FROM SITE
Digital Reporting & Site Communication
Clear communication is an important part of managing drainage works safely. Envirotech uses WorkPal to support digital job management and site reporting, allowing our engineers to record attendance, risk information, photographs, completed works and recommendations directly from site.
Clients receive a consistent record of what was undertaken, helping maintain an auditable trail from initial attendance through to completion.
Site Records Can Include
- Digital job reporting and attendance
- Site photographs and engineer notes
- Risk and site information
- Defect observations and recommendations
- Client sign-off where required
